Astan Quds Razavi’s (AQR) Libraries, Museums, and Documents Organization signed a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan National Library (Alisher Navoi Library) in Tashkent to enhance academic and cultural collaboration.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Astan Quds Razavi’s (AQR) Libraries, Museums, and Documents Organization signed a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan National Library (Alisher Navoi Library) in Tashkent to enhance academic and cultural collaboration.

A ceremony marking the signing of the agreement was held on May 22 at Uzbekistan National Library in Tashkent, attended by Hoj. Seyed Jalal Hosseini, head of Astan Quds Razavi’s Libraries, Museums, and Documents Organization, Umida Teshabayeva, director of Uzbekistan National Library, and a group of scholars and experts.
The event was also broadcast live online.

The agreement, valid for three years, emphasizes the importance of library and information activities in advancing education, science, and culture. It highlights the mutual interest in expanding fair and effective cooperation in the fields of librarianship, research, and cultural exchange.

During the ceremony, Hoj. Hosseini expressed his appreciation for Uzbekistan’s rich cultural and historical heritage, noting, “The country is highly significant as it’s located along the Silk Road, not less because of outstanding scholars such as Amir Alisher Navoi”.

He also praised Uzbekistan National Library for its advanced facilities and skilled librarians.

AQR’s official further highlighted Iran’s centuries-old literary and scholarly tradition, mentioning figures such as Attar, Saadi, and Hafez.

“AQR’s Library, which houses manuscripts dating back to the early Islamic centuries is hugely significant in the Islamic world”, he emphasized.

The agreement outlines several areas of collaboration, including joint research on manuscripts, cataloging rare books, exchanging publications, and sharing expertise on preservation techniques.

Both libraries will also work on bibliographic databases, digital archives, and virtual exhibitions to promote cultural and academic exchange.

Additionally, the agreement facilitates training programs, joint conferences, and scholarly publications, fostering deeper cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan in the field of library sciences.

The signing took place as part of a broader visit by the AQR’s delegation to Uzbekistan’s cultural and academic institutions, led by Hoj. Hosseini and accompanied by manuscript expert Dr. Mansouri and Dr. Ebrahim Davoudi, director of international affairs at Imam Reza International University.
